17 Dec IUA´s British Bake Off
Last Tuesday 11th December, we had the second edition of IUA’s British Bake Off. This event is the icing on the cake of our British Culture lessons and was enthusiastically carried out by teachers and students.
The aim of this project is to give students the opportunity to develop skills, such as collaborative work and communication. Moreover, it places academic study (Math, Science and Social Studies) in a practical, real world context.
While working with the recipes, children acquired vocabulary related to ingredients and procedures. Also, they learnt the differences between the Metric and Imperial measurement systems.
Eventually, it was time to bring all this to life. To do so, our students worked in groups dividing and organizing the different tasks, and, along with their teachers, they created Tea Houses or Cafés where they would wine and dine their families.

El pasado martes tuvo lugar la segunda edición del IUA’s British Bake Off. Este evento es la frutilla de la torta de las clases de “British Culture” y fue realizado con mucho entusiasmo por profesores y alumnos.
El objetivo de este proyecto es ofrecerles a los niños la oportunidad de desarrollar diferentes habilidades como por ejemplo el trabajo colaborativo y la comunicación; además de propiciar un contexto real y poner en práctica los conocimientos adquiridos en diferentes materias como Matemáticas, Ciencia y Estudios Sociales.
Al trabajar con las recetas los alumnos integran vocabulario relacionado con los ingredientes y procedimientos, así como también los distintos sistemas de medidas (Métrico e Imperial).
Finalmente llegó el momento de poner la teoría en práctica. Para ello, los alumnos trabajaron en grupos, organizaron las diferentes tareas y, junto con sus docentes, crearon Casas de Té o Cafés donde agasajaron a todas las familias de Primaria.
